“In winter 2019, a group of South Carolina State University graduates & supporters considered the idea of adding a new event to the school’s annual homecoming activities. The mission of the event would be to:
 

1. Provide financial assistance to individuals attending SCSU
2. Promote fun, health and unity during a time when obesity, mental health and heart diseases are top causes of death 
3. Build the economy, advertise and promote growth in Orangeburg, SC

The group created a non-profit organization by the name of BULLDOGS ON THE RUN, and labeled the event with the aforementioned name. During the award ceremony of the 2022, 3 (three) $1,000 scholarships were awarded to three SCSU undergraduates."
